Ever wonder why some people have beautiful skin, always have clear white eyes, and don’t look their age by a mile. You might be surprised that the vast majority of these people are drinking well over the average per day of water. Good old H20.

There have been a lot of studies done over the years, producing varying recommendations on what the acceptable level of water that we should be drinking is. Whether we are in the gym, working out at home, on the road in a hotel, on holiday or vacation the need for water never ends.

Water is your body’s most plentiful chemical component and makes up on average close to 60 - 65% of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on H2O. All of the chemical reactions in the body either take up water or give off water. Water is the best detox agent for the blood flushing out vital organs, is used in every cell replenishment and keeps all of the ears, nose and throat areas moist and lubricated. The survival rule of thumb, and this is highly dependent on the surroundings and climate is:

Our bodies are glorious machines run by the most sophisticated computer (brain) on earth. Our bodies are ingenious and from the very beginning of man, the body has evolved to no end, but the basic principals of survival are ingrained in all of our DNA. If we starve ourselves, our body will hold onto any fat for as long as it can because it is in survival mode. Think about it! Starvation diets DON”T WORK. They may work temporarily, but that’s about it. Your body will survive with average to below average water intake. You won’t feel very good but it can.

At that time, the warning light goes on, saying that the oil is low. If not topped up to 5 quarts of oil, the engine will be damaged little by little, by friction everyday that its run on 3 quarts of oil. It amazes me to no end, that people take better care of their cars and look after its regular maintenance and oil requirements than their own bodies!

Numerous studies in the world will put different recommendations on what is acceptable.
For all intents and purposes, I want you drinking NO LESS THAT 2 LITRES OF WATER PER DAY or 3.5 PINTS. That is the minimum! A little experimentation with the shade of your urine will let you know if you are well hydrated. If it is colorless, this is ideal. If it is slightly yellow....DRINK MORE. Anything darker than than light Yellow....DRINK A LOT MORE!!!

Let’s keep it simple guys and gals. If you have to go to the toilet consistently, the ladies, the gents, the loo, the bathroom...what ever you call it in your part of the word...TOO BAD! It’s part of the price we all pay for optimal health, clear skin, regular bowel habits, clear bright eyes and to hold the ravages of aging at bay!

This is the first port of call for hydrating your system. WATER, WATER, WATER! Especially if you are breaking a bad habit like drinking a bit too much, stopping smoking, trying to LOSE WEIGHT. This will first off all flush and detox your system out. Secondly, drink a large glass of water 10 minutes before a large meal if you are trying to lose weight.

This will help fill you up and help curb your appetite. Thirdly, your digestive system requires a huge amount of water to run properly. Have you ever been constipated? A problem for a lot of my lady clients. Try drinking 2.5 litres of water a day and see if you remain constipated. It’s gonna help...trust me.

I’m asking a lot here I know, but it is absolutely essential that you get your body detoxed, hydrated and working at its optimal performance, you’re gonna need it.
